Upcoming Spring & Summer Events
With spring bringing longer days and warmer weather, I am excited to spend more time outdoors! The seasons of spring and summer also bring many events to downtown Glasgow and surrounding areas. I want to highlight some of these activities so you can plan your trip accordingly!
Vietnam Veteran Ceremony
The South Central Kentucky Cultural Center will honor local veterans from the Vietnam era on Saturday, April 26. This includes veterans who served between 1955-1975 from the following counties: Allen, Barren, Hart, Metcalfe and Monroe. The event is from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be an opening ceremony, stories from veterans, patriotic music and a special Vietnam exhibit on the 2nd floor gallery of the cultural center. If you or a loved one served during this time or you simply want to honor those who did, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
Cave City Cars and Coffee
On the first Saturday of the month beginning in April and continuing through October, you can enjoy cars and coffee in Cave City. Broadway Street in downtown Cave City will be home to world class, multi-brand and multi-period vehicles, their owners and a variety of vendors. Plus, there is live music and plenty of coffee! This is a free event for all ages form 8-11 a.m.
Sip, Shop & Stroll
Glasgow Downtown Business Association will soon be hosting their annual Sip, Shop & Stroll event on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local vendors set up around the square in Glasgow where you can enjoy food, drinks, entertainment and shopping. There’s something for the whole family. If you stay at Main Street Bed & Breakfast, you don’t have to worry about parking! You can walk the few blocks to the square from here.
Free Concerts on the Square
Entertain Glasgow offers a free summer concert series on the square in downtown Glasgow. The first event will be May 23 with funk and soul band Big Black Cadillac performing along with Miles Apart. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. There will be food trucks offering good eats. Just bring a friend, a lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy the free entertainment!
